Ghost Writing

For authors who have the knowledge or story but need professional support to shape it into a complete manuscript.

Many people have valuable knowledge, experience or personal histories to record but do not have the time or confidence to prepare a full manuscript themselves. Our ghostwriting service provides a structured way to develop that material into a coherent book.

The work begins with interviews, notes and available records. The manuscript is developed in consultation with the author, reviewed in stages and kept confidential under the terms agreed before writing begins.

Our working process

How a ghostwriting project is developed

  1. Scoping conversation

We establish the purpose, intended readership, expected length, available source material and proposed scope of the book.

  2. Interviews

Structured recorded interviews are arranged with the author and organised around the agreed chapter plan. The number of sessions depends on the length and complexity of the project.

  3. Outline you approve

A chapter outline is prepared from the interviews and source material and submitted to the author for approval before full drafting begins.

  4. Drafting in batches

Draft chapters are shared in agreed batches so that the author can review voice, factual accuracy and direction throughout the writing process.

  5. Revision and sign-off

The manuscript goes through the agreed revision rounds before final author review and written approval of the completed text.

Practical information

Common questions about this service

Whose name goes on the book?

The book is published in the client's name unless another arrangement is agreed. The ghostwriter's role and confidentiality obligations are set out in the written agreement.

Is what I say kept private?

Yes. Confidentiality provisions are included in the agreement before interviews begin and apply to recordings, transcripts, source material and the manuscript.

How long does a ghostwritten book take?

A full-length ghostwritten book commonly takes several months. The final schedule depends on the number of interviews, the availability of source material and the time required for author review and revision.

What if I have already started writing?

Existing drafts, notes, recordings and research materials are useful. We review what is already available and incorporate suitable material into the agreed writing process.
